The Orthodox Christian Mission Center exists to help fulfill the Great Commission of Christ:
“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”” Matthew 28:18-20
OCMC strives to establish vibrant eucharistic communities throughout the world, to develop and support indigenous church leaders, and to strengthen the infrastructure of their churches.
OCMC carries out this work primarily, though not solely, in countries where Christianity is in the minority and where the Gospel message has not been proclaimed. OCMC will recruit, train, send, and support Orthodox missionaries to preach, teach, baptize, construct, and minister to the spiritual and physical needs of those being served and saved.
The Orthodox Christian Mission Center is the official international missions agency of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of North and Central America , and is working in more than 31 countries throughout the world.
In the summer of 2007, Fr. Philemon and Presvytera Maria served as members of a short term teaching team to Tanzania, where they helped lead a conference of more than ninety local leaders on Orthodox spirituality and economic development. www.orthodoxytz.com/Philemon.asp

Currently, Fr. Philemon serves on the Board of Directors of OCMC, and is preparing to lead an overseas mission team to Albania in the summer of 2013.
Additionally, Fr. Philemon’s brother, Fr. Paul Patitsas, is serving as a long-term missionary to the Orthodox Church of New Zealand, Fiji and the South Pacific, together with his wife, Presvytera Katerina, and their three children, Nicholia, Raphaela, and Georgios.
