The acolytes represent the Holy Angels who serve both God and man.
St. Katherine is blessed to have many young men between the ages of 6 and 18 who volunteer to serve within the Holy Altar as Acolytes.
We also have volunteers who serve as Readers of the Holy Scripture in the divine services. These readers may be of any age.
All are welcome to serve in these capacities with the permission and blessing of Fr. Philemon Patitsas, the spiritual father and Proistamenos of St. Katherine. They also must have the permission and blessing of HIs Eminence Metropolitan Alexios, the Episcopal authority who has oversight of St. Katherine in the vineyard of Christ.
At St. Katherine we have two acolyte teams, named in honor of Archangels Michael and Gabriel. All of our acolytes are welcome to serve on any given Sunday as God’s Holy Spirit stirs their hearts.
“And of the angels He says: “Who makes His angels spirits And His ministers a flame of fire.” ” Hebrews 1:7
